The Gullies
The Gullies, a progressive sheep and beef farm in Rangitīkei, is offering a new farm stay and arts residency by application—The Gullies Arts Residency.
In a traditional farming community, the residency bridges agriculture and creativity to boost local engagement with the arts. Within this context, a key aim was to promote farming integrity hand-in-hand while hosting gallery-represented artists.
We started with a Strategy Workshop, delving into The Gullies' ethos, goals and market—to really understand what makes them tick. We pinpointed "conscious creativity" as the core idea to shape their brand around, to resonate across their diverse target audience.
Branding developed their identity confidently and intentionally— balancing creativity with down-to-earth farm life and outdoor connection. Shapes, colours, and the mark draw from the surrounding landscape, weaving together experience and environment.
A UX-led Website created a user-friendly, site with clear messaging, well-placed CTAs, and a seamless process to encourage and support art applications.
Upon launch, The Gullies Arts Residency quickly gained attention, with applications from recognised artists and the inaugural residency awarded to celebrated Auckland artist Andrew McCloud.
The Gullies Arts Residency has also hosted three gallery-represented artists, and been featured in media such as The Post and rova.nz. They’ve also launched a pop-up store in their local high street, and actively supported and been pivotal to local arts events.
