Home Care Calculator
Ozcare set out to support people in navigating the complex home care system, to make access to services and funding more straightforward—often during stressful life moments.
Their existing internal tool for calculating packages and services needed modernising—and required onerous resourcing with each necessary update.
Moreover, the existing internal tool wasn’t able to provide direct access to package information for external recipients and their families.
We set out to design a warm, user-friendly digital tool that would empower both staff and potential clients—helping them easily understand their funding, explore support options, and take confident next steps toward care at home.
Through research, stakeholder collaboration and UX-led design, we created a mobile-friendly, AA-accessible calculator tool tailored to two journeys: one for Staff and one for Recipients and their families.
For staff, the tool replaces a clunky legacy system, enabling quick quoting, clear service overviews, and easy updates—whether supporting recipients in-home, over the phone, or in-office.
For recipients, the experience balances clarity with compassion and positivity—gently guiding them through four simple steps to see how their package can work for them.
The design supports progressive disclosure and stays grounded in empathy—recognising users may be overwhelmed or time-poor. UX-led features include:
Modular quote summaries that update in real-time as services are selected.
Soft visual cues and iconography to ease cognitive load and reinforce each step.
Stakeholders praised the clear structure, warm tone and integration with Ozcare’s wider care journey. The early staff feedback straight off launch? “It just makes everything easier.”
